SNELLVILLE — A former manager at a Snellville toy store franchise is accused of bilking the business of nearly $7,000 in store earnings, police records show.
Lawrenceville resident Lori Hyre, 36, pinched $6,688 from store deposits belonging to Learning Express Toys in Snellville’s The Avenue Webb Ginn shopping district, according to an arrest warrant issued last week. The alleged thefts took place over roughly four months ending in October. Store owner Kathleen Levine said Hyre resigned as manager when confronted with the allegations. Massachusetts-based Learning Express Toys is the nation’s largest franchiser of specialty toy stores, the company’s website says. Levine said the string of thefts was detrimental to her franchise. “I had to borrow money to make payroll,” she said. Hyre is charged with felony theft by taking. Jail records show she had yet to be arrested Thursday.More like this story
