House fire displaces 7

DULUTH — Seven people were displaced from their home Thursday afternoon when a fire broke out in a bedroom of the two-story home, authorities said.

The fire on the 2400 block of Stonebridge Lane in Duluth was reported about 5:10 p.m. Thursday. The blaze caused moderate smoke and heat damage throughout the home’s second floor, Gwinnett County Fire Department spokesman Capt. Thomas Rutledge said.

The occupants were downstairs at the time of the fire and were alerted by the smoke detector, Rutledge said. They escaped unharmed.

The exact cause of the fire is undetermined, but it appears to be accidental and possibly electrical in nature, Rutledge said.
