Forward Michael Davies was assigned to the Gwinnett Gladiators from the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League on Thursday.
In a separate transaction, the Gladiators signed defenseman Alan Dorich. Davies returns to Gwinnett, where he earned six points (one goal, five assists) in six games before being recalled to Chicago on Nov. 3. The Chesterfield, Mo., native has recorded six points (two goals, four assists) in 12 games with Chicago this season. Davies set a career high with 52 points (20 goals, 32 assists) in 41 games as a senior with the University of Wisconsin last season. His 52 points last year shared sixth in scoring in the NCAA. He ranked second on the Badgers with a career-best 20 goals and third with a career-high 32 assists. He made his professional debut in three Calder Cup playoff games with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the AHL after Wisconsin was defeated in the national championship game. Davies earned 123 points (54 goals, 69 assists) and 122 penalty minutes in 155 career collegiate games with Wisconsin from 2006-10. Dorich joins Gwinnett after playing two games with Wheeling and three games with Kalamazoo this season. A rookie out of Northern Michigan University, Dorich collected 17 assists in 136 career collegiate games in the CCHA. Davies and Dorich should be available for the Gladiators’ game at 7:30 p.m. today against Wheeling at the Cambria War Memorial in Johnstown, Pa.More like this story
