LILBURN — An overnight fire Monday damaged a Lilburn home in the 5300 block of Country Lake Court, officials said.
Occupants called 911 to report the fire about 2:26 a.m. Firefighters had the blaze under control about 17 minutes later, said Fire Department spokesman Capt. Thomas Rutledge.
Three adult occupants were home asleep at the time of the fire and awoke to an odor of smoke inside the house, then discovered smoke and fire in the basement and called 911. All three escaped without injury but were displaced by the damage, Rutledge said.
Crews found a fire on the back side and in the basement of the two-story house on arrival. The blaze originated under the back deck and extended to the house, causing moderate damage to the back of the house and sending smoke throughout, Rutledge said.
Rutledge said the exact cause is undetermined, but fire investigators believe the blaze was accidental, he said.
