LAWRENCEVILLE — The Gwinnett-based Impact Group is seeking community groups and sponsors to help bring cheer to homeless families during the holidays.
Volunteers are needed to buy Christmas items for homeless families receiving assistance through the Impact Group’s Transitional Housing Program. Now in its 15th year, the program provides the heads of households and their children with shelter and intensive case management to help the families address the causes of their homelessness and regain their financial independence.
Each year in December, members of the community are sought who can “adopt” each family by donating food and gifts of clothing, toys or household items for the family members. These gifts enable families to celebrate the holidays without fear of being unable to meet their other obligations.
Families, faith groups, companies or individuals interesting in supporting a family during the holidays are asked to call case manager Avis Lucas at 678-808-4446 or e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
