PREP ROUNDUP: Floor's no-hitter leads Eagles to win

DULUTH — Collins Hill pitcher Kayla Floor (5-1) delivered a no-hitter on Tuesday, striking out 12 in five innings as the Eagles blanked Duluth 8-0 in Region 7-AAAAA.

Mckenzie Halstead sparked the offense for Collins Hill (9-1-1, 2-1), going 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs. Christina Parham went 2-for-4 with three steals, two RBIs and a run, while Brittany Roley finished 2-for-3 with a stolen base and a run.

SOFTBALL

Brookwood 3, Parkview 2

SNELLVILLE — Mandi Blackwell’s RBI single to right in the bottom of the eight plated Taylor Stercay to give Brookwood a 3-2 win over Parkview in Region 8-AAAAA.

Jessica Neidigh went 3-for-4 with a double and a run for Brookwood (11-4, 1-1), while Jenny Blackwell had a hit and an RBI.

Brandi Jones, who was also the winning pitcher, went 2-for-3 with Daniella Ulloa delivering an RBI. Megan Litumbe added a triple, while Emily Brantley scored a run.

North 11, Peachtree Ridge 3

SUWANEE — North Gwinnett pounded out 11 hits on Tuesday as the Bulldogs topped Peachtree Ridge 11-3 in six innings in Region 7-AAAAA.

Lacey Najafi went 4-for-4 with a double for North (9-3, 3-1), while Alex McDavid reached base three times with a double and two intentional walks.

Tori Freedman and Mandy Spangler each went 2-for-3 with Heather Maddox and Sydney O’Neill each delivering a single. Caroline Rogers also drove in a run on a sacrifice fly.

Archer 11, Dacula 0

LAWRENCEVILLE — Archer continued its solid play on Tuesday night with an 11-0 shutout over Dacula in five innings in Region 8-AAAAA.

Lynsey Folkerts led Archer (7-1, 2-0) by going 2-for-3 with a two-run homer, while Alesha Mann had two hits and two runs. Taylor Albritton (2-for-3, two RBIs, run), Abby Lyall (two hits, two runs) and Taylor Harris (2-for-3, double, two RBIs, two runs) each had solid games at the plate.

The winning pitcher was Alliyah Williams (5-0), allowing two hits with three strikeouts in five innings.

Shiloh 8, South 3

SNELLVILLE — Shiloh took advantage of five unearned runs and picked up a Region 8-AAAAA win on Tuesday by beating South Gwinnett 8-3.

Christina Skipper took the loss for South, allowing three earned runs, while Lindsey Hogan, Jay Jay Simao and Danyelle Wilson led the offense.

Lanier 8, Gainesville 3

GAINESVILLE — Lanier pitcher Keisha Stone (1-4) allowed just three hits and three runs with six strikeouts on Tuesday as the Longhorns picked up their first Region 8-AAA win 8-3 over Gainesville.

Hannah Coursey went 1-for-3 with two runs and an RBI for Lanier (3-8, 1-2). Lauren Pettit also went 1-for-5 with a double and two runs, while Kaylee Ramos was 1-for-3 with a double.

GAC 4, Lovett 1

ATLANTA — Brianna Stewart had two hits and two RBIs on Tuesday to lead Greater Atlanta Christian 4-1 over Lovett in Region 6-AA.

Sierra Lawrence also had two hits with a run, while Sarah Armstrong scattered five hits in seven innings in recording the win.

Providence 16, Galloway 2

ATLANTA — Providence needed just four innings on Tuesday to dispose of Galloway 16-2 in Region 5-A.

MacKenzie Tuttle (2-0) was the winning pitcher, allowing two earned runs with four strikeouts in four innings.

Kylie Kleinschmidt led the offense for the Stars (10-4-2, 3-0), delivering two doubles with three RBIs. Jessie Kowalewicz also went 2-for-4 with a triple, three runs and two RBIs, while Katie Beals and Karmen Williams each went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Wesleyan 15, Pinecrest 0

NORCROSS — Wesleyan improved to 3-3 overall and 2-0 in Region 5-A on Tuesday with a 15-0 shutout over Pinecrest Academy. Dacia Jones was the winning pitcher.

VOLLEYBALL

Collins Hill tops Grayson, Providence

LOGANVILLE — Katherine Ahlswede delivered 25 assists and five aces on Tuesday as Collins Hill recorded sweeps over Grayson (25-17, 25-18) and Providence (25-20, 25-13).

Caitlyn Conner added seven kills and four digs for Collins Hill (11-5), while Kelly Carelson had 10 digs and four kills. Other contributors for the Eagles were Sarah Stone with 13 digs, Liz Topoleski with six digs and three aces, Erin Ensley with four kills and T.C. Cobb with three kills.

For Providence, D’Anna Kester had six assists and four aces, while Codie Ann Amis added three aces and a kill as the Stars (8-6) salvaged a split on the night with a 27-25, 25-20 win over Grayson. Kaitlin Harper had three kills and 2.5 blocks and Emily Schoone finished with 2.5 blocks and 2 kills in the loss to Collins Hill.

GAC splits matches

NORCROSS — Greater Atlanta Christian’s record moved to 8-3 on Tuesday with a 25-20, 25-19 win over Parkview and a 25-20, 25-23 loss to Lovett.

Leading GAC was Catherine Chason with 33 assists and 16 digs, Morgan McKnight with 14 kills and Rachel Waldrop with 11 kills.

Despite 20 assists from Katie Carroll and 20 digs from Kelly Hayden, Parkview dropped both of its matches, ending its night with 25-12, 25-15 loss to Lovett.

Mill Creek sweeps South, Hart County

HOSCHTON — Kim Brody delivered 15 kills and three assists on Tuesday in helping Mill Creek sweep South Gwinnett (25-10, 25-15) and Hart County (25-20, 25-16).

MaTia Hughes added eight kills for the Hawks (9-7) with Kaitlyn Craig serving three aces.

Norcross edges Brookwood

NORCROSS — It took five games, but Norcross finally came away with the win, nipping Brookwood three games to two by scores of 25-18, 19-25, 25-19, 19-25, 25-22 on Tuesday.

Alex DeMercy led Norcross (2-3) with 11 kills, seven digs and five aces, while Lauren Rainney had 32 assists. Other leaders for the Blue Devils were Kamilah Bakari with five kills and four blocks, Sara Snider with 12 digs and five aces and Katie Janowiak with five aces, five digs and the match-clinching kill in the final game.

Bethany Easom led Brookwood (10-5) with 21 assists, while Katie Mallow had 15 kills. Jacqueline Portz also played well for the Broncos with 18 assists and five aces.

Buford picks up two wins

BUFORD — Jenna Falletta had 29 assists and Denee Badois had 12 kills on Tuesday in helping Buford sweep East Hall and Mountain View.

Buford (16-5) beat East Hall 25-8, 25-7 and downed the Bears 25-12, 25-14.

Hebron takes two from Dacula

DACULA — Hebron took two matches from its cross-town rival Dacula on Tuesday night, beating the Falcons in three games 25-20, 20-25, 25-11 in the first game and getting a sweep 25-22, 25-22 in the night cap.

Elise Murray led Hebron (12-3) with 23 kills and six blocks, while Courtney Bishop added 21 kills. The Lions also received 10 kills and five aces from Maddi Roof, 25 assists from Eden Murray and 14 assists from Savannah Blalock.
