DULUTH -- An employee known as "Connie" at a Duluth massage parlor is facing prostitution charges after she solicited an undercover vice officer this week, police said.
According to the arrest warrant for 38-year-old Yuhua Li, an undercover officer entered the Blue Moon Spa at 2895 Peachtree Industrial Blvd. on Monday afternoon, asking for a massage.
The officer was conducting a compliance check, a fairly common procedure "to ensure the business is legitimate and in compliance with county ordinance," police spokesman Cpl. Brian Kelly said.
According to the warrant for her arrest, the worker known as "Connie" massaged him for only a brief time. After revealing to the officer that she wasn't a licensed massage therapist at all, "she solicited him for an act of prostitution," the warrant reads.
Jail records show Li was booked on charges of prostitution, keeping a place of prostitution and massage without a permit. She was released on $3,000 bond.
"These stings are neither common nor uncommon," Kelly said. "Our vice guys work diligently to keep prostitution out of Gwinnett. Unfortunately, with the Internet, prostitution has seemingly become more accessible."
A quick Internet search reveals that, case and point -- the first link after searching "Blue Moon Spa Duluth" finds the spa's inclusion on website listing "erotic massage parlors."
Attempts to reach the Duluth spa were unsuccessful Wednesday.
Gwinnett County Jail records show 80 separate prostitution arrests since the start of 2010.
