Wigged bank robbers strike again

ATLANTA -- Two metro Atlanta bank robbers whose guises fall somewhere between Lil Jon and Cousin Itt have struck again, the FBI said Wednesday.

The pair, quickly gaining infamy for wearing outlandish wigs to mask their faces, robbed a Wachovia Bank on Dogwood Drive in Conyers about 10:45 a.m. Wednesday. FBI investigators believe the duo has held up two more Wachovia branches in Norcross and Atlanta since late July.

In each robbery, the men brandished handguns and left with an undisclosed amount of money. The FBI says they committed all three crimes between 10:30 and 11 a.m.

In both previous heists, one armed suspect vaulted a teller counter to snatch money while his accomplice ordered lobby patrons to the ground at gunpoint. No injuries have been reported.

The Norcross heist at 3374 Holcomb Bridge Road happened Aug. 16.

FBI Atlanta special agent Brian Lamkin said both suspects are black men between 20 and 30 years old.

They are believed to be traveling in a silver Lexus. Both should be considered armed and dangerous, Lamkin said.

Officials urge anyone with information to contact the FBI's Atlanta office at 404-679-9000.
