SUWANEE -- A Duluth Middle School administrator and former pastor has been named the new principal of Richards Middle School.
The Gwinnett County Board of Education approved the appointment at its regular monthly meeting Thursday evening. Mark McCain will take the helm of the Central Gwinnett cluster middle school on Monday.
McCain, a graduate of the district's Quality Plus Leadership Academy, has worked for the school system since 2002, serving as a seventh-grade social studies teacher and assistant principal. He was previously the founding and lead pastor at Peachtree Point Community Church.
Richards Middle opened this school year under the leadership of Karen Robinson, a principal mentor and former Shiloh Middle principal. The former principal, Reginald Kirkland, is pursuing opportunities outside of the school system.
