PREP ROUNDUP: Eagles win Diamond bracket

SNELLVILLE -- Collins Hill beat North Gwinnett 6-4, Greater Atlanta Christian 6-0 and Brookwood 3-1 on Saturday to win the Diamond Bracket of the South Gwinnett softball tournament.

Against North, Ally LeGette threw a complete game and earned the win for Collins Hill.

Kayla Floor pitched a complete-game shutout in six innings and struck out five batters against GAC. Floor also registered the win against Brookwood after she threw a complete game and gave up one run with six strikeouts in six innings.

Top hitters for Collins Hill were Christina Parham (triple, double, three runs and two RBIs) and Aerika Miles (two runs). They were both 4-for-8. Chelsea Littlejohn was 4-for-9 with a triple, double, three RBIs and a run. Brianna Cason had two hits, three RBIs and two runs. Mckenzie Halstead was 4-for-7 with a double, a run and two RBIs, while Amber Hulsey went 3-for-5 with two RBIs for the Eagles (5-0).

North wins two of three

SNELLVILLE -- North Gwinnett beat Brookwood 7-5, fell to Collins Hill 6-4 and then topped Greater Atlanta Christian 10-2 on Saturday.

Morgan White (1-0) pitched three innings and gave up four hits to pick up the win against Brookwood, while Emily Wood registered the save after allowing only one hit in two innings. At the plate, Alex McDavid had a home run and single. Cara Blenke and Heather Maddox each had a double, Lacey Najafi went 2-for-2, while Tori Freedman and Kelsey Summer each had a single for North against the Broncos.

Against Collins Hill, the Bulldogs totaled seven hits with two hits apiece by Miranda Strothers and McDavid. Sydney O'Neill had two doubles and a single, while Katheryn Willingham had a single for North.

McDavid (2-0) picked up the win for North against GAC and also contributed two hits. North had 15 hits by 12 different players. Strothers, Freedman and Najafi each had multiple hits for North (3-1) against the Spartans.

Providence finishes 3-2

SUWANEE -- Providence finished 3-2 in the South Gwinnett tournament.

On Friday, Providence beat Central Gwinnett 5-0 and Lambert 9-6. The Stars finished the tournament Saturday with a win against Peachtree Ridge 4-1, but lost to Ola 6-1 and Apalachee (4-2).

Against Central, Kylie Kleinschmidt picked up the win after pitching a one-hitter and striking out 14 batters. Kleinschmidt also earned the win against Peachtree Ridge on Saturday, pitching another one-hitter and striking out 12. Kleinschmidt totaled 36 strikeouts in 17 innings of the tournament. On Saturday, Kleinschmidt got the loss against Ola, while Bri Canady pitched 22/3 innings of relief and allowed no earned runs. Canady registered the win against Lambert on Friday night and got the loss against Apalachee on Saturday.

Top scorers for Providence were Jessie Kowalewicz with five hits and five runs, Brittany Tuttle with five hits and four runs, Anna Stahl with five hits, Lauren Eggert with four hits and four RBIs, and Caty Barry with four hits and four runs.

Peachtree Ridge goes 1-2

SUWANEE -- Peachtree Ridge fell to Apalachee 7-5 and Providence 4-1, but beat Ola 5-4 on Saturday.

Against Apalachee, Sarah Walker got the loss after she gave up four runs -- none earned -- on six hits, while striking out five in five innings.

Offensively, Ashley Sawdey was 2-for-3 with two runs, Kayla Jones was 1-for-3 with an RBI and Sarah Walker was 2-for-2 with an RBI.

Against Providence, Quinn Hill gave up four earned runs and six hits in three innings to suffer the loss. At the plate, Kaitlyn Vincent was 1-for-3 with a double and Gracie Shelton went 1-for-2 against Providence.

Walker got the win against Ola after she gave up two earned runs and four hits in seven innings. Offensively, Sawdey was 2-for-4 with an RBI and Chandler Frisbie was 1-for-2 with two runs. Gracie Shelton was 2-for-4, Kayla Jones went 2-for-4 with an RBI and Noelle Kendis was 1-for-1 with an RBI for Peachtree Ridge.

Mountain View finishes 1-2

SNELLVILLE -- Mountain View fell to Monroe 9-2 and St. Pius 15-5, but beat South Gwinnett 4-3 on Saturday.

Kaylee Hennelly registered the loss against Monroe, but picked up the win over South. Offensively Hennelly totaled three hits for the day.

Taylor Miller totaled six hits, a double and four stolen bases, while Meghan Tonneson and Lindsey Baxter had three hits, and Haroline Chavarria finished with two hits for Mountain View. Hannah Seagriff was the losing pitcher against St. Pius.
