Two slaying suspects now in custody

DULUTH -- Both suspects in the June slaying of 19-year-old Deonte Moore at a Duluth apartment complex have been apprehended.

Tuesday, 28-year-old Ahmad Edward Brown turned himself in to sheriff's deputies at the Gwinnett County Jail, after members with the fugitive unit held conversations with the suspect's mother and girlfriend, spokeswoman Stacey Bourbonnais said.

Also in connection with the apparent drug-related homicide, 27-year-old suspect Andre Lloyd Allen was arrested and charged with murder and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute on June 23.

During their investigation, Gwinnett police "were able to establish cause to show that Allen was involved in a drug transaction with the victim," spokesman Cpl. Brian Kelly said.

Maintenance crews at the Bridgewater Apartments on Satellite Boulevard found Moore's body in a wooded area near the complex on the morning of July 11, shot at least once.

An arrest warrant had been issued for Brown on July 26, charging him with murder for allegedly shooting Moore in the head some time between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m. on June 10. With only a street name to go on, Gwinnett police and sheriff's deputies collaborated to track Brown down.

Allen and Brown are both in Gwinnett County Jail without bond.

Court records show both charges levied against Allen were bound over to Superior Court during a July 1 hearing.
