WINDER -- Authorities corralled at least 30 suspects Sunday as part of a three-month, multi-agency drug investigation in Barrow County.
Deputies and officers began the sweep Sunday morning. By mid-afternoon, 30 suspects had been arrested, with more expected to follow, said Barrow County Sheriff's Office spokesman Capt. Dennis Dorsey.
Participating agencies included the Sheriff's Office, the Department of Pardons and Parole, and police from Winder, Statham and Auburn. The operation was spearheaded by a multi-agency initiative called The Barrow County Crime Task Force.
The task force's primary role is to "fight the drug trade, which leads to other violent crimes," Sheriff Jud Smith said in a release.
No further information on the roundup was available Monday.
The task force, launched in February, includes members of the Sheriff's Office, Winder police and Statham police departments.
Barrow officials urge the public to report drug activity directly to the task force by calling 770-307-3080, ext. 2996.
