DULUTH -- The Federal Bureau of Investigation have arrested the man suspected in at least three local bank robberies, police said.
The FBI tracked down 32-year-old Lawrenceville resident Matthew Mason Gonzalez at a downtown Atlanta hotel Friday night before taking him to Gwinnett County Jail, Duluth police's Maj. Don Woodruff said.
Gonzalez was wanted for a series of bank robberies, most recently an Aug. 2 heist at the Wachovia near Pleasant Hill Road and Peachtree Industrial Boulevard.
He is also being investigated by Gwinnett police for the January robbery of the Duluth BB&T at 6475 Sugarloaf Parkway, and by Dunwoody police for a bank robbery there in July, Woodruff said.
On each occasion, Gonzalez, wearing a baseball cap and glasses, passed a note to tellers demanding money, police said.
Jail records show Gonzalez is being held without bond for one count of armed robbery.
