Amos Livsey, age 83 of Lithonia, GA passed away August 1, 2010. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Douglas Wayne Livsey and is survived by his wife, Willie P. Livsey; daughters, Dr. Theresa M. Livsey-Lemons and her husband, Jasper, Pamela J. Williams and her husband, Cleon, Vernessa V. Livsey-Singleton, Caroline Livsey Thames and her husband Robert; sisters, Pecola Scott, Sarah Lumpkin; brother, Thomas Livsey; 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Livsey worked for General Motors, Western Electric, Cofer Brothers and Anderson Grading Company. Amos was stellar at his trade and craft and operated a large earthmover, clearing a lot quicker than one could blink an eye. In his later years to retirement, he cleared the foundations to where many homes have been built and families live today. Amos didn't meet a stranger and was known to extend a helping hand to most, offering food, room and board. He enjoyed listening to the Blues and Country Music, walking, spending time with his family and simply sitting in the sunshine. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 5 at 1pm at New Bethel A.M.E. Church with the remains placed in state at 12noon. Pastor Ronald L. Owens will officiate. Interment will be held at New Bethel A.M.E. church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 until 8pm at the funeral home.
