PREP ROUNDUP: Hebron wins region title

GAINESVILLE -- Hebron Christian topped Lakeview Academy 7-4 on Friday and won the Region 8-A title for the first time.

The Lions finished their regular season 23-2.

Seth Gower was 2-for-3 with a two run home run and four RBIs. Danny Lockhart went 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Lance Dutton went 1-for-2 with a double and a sacrifice.

Christian Davilia (5-0) struck out four batters and gave up four runs to get the win in 51/3 innings. Kevin Burgee picked up his third save after pitching 12/3 innings for Hebron.


Duluth 3, North Forsyth 2

CUMMING -- The second of Alex Raffensperger's two hits -- a home run in the top of the ninth inning -- led Duluth to a 3-2 win over North Forsyth on Friday.

Zack Erwin hit a two-run home run, while David Matton and Eric Sutor each had a hit for Duluth.

Chris Rich (4-4) pitched three innings of relief, giving up no hits, no runs and striking out four batters in the win. John Clark started on the mound and went six innings. He struck out two batters and gave up two earned runs.

South 15, Berkmar 0

LILBURN -- South Gwinnett shut out Berkmar 15-0 on Friday.

Thomas Embry got the win after giving up three hits and striking out two batters in four innings. Brandon Matics picked up the save after throwing three innings, striking out five and giving up three hits.

Offensively, Kent Rollins was 2-for-4 with three runs and three steals, while Mack Adams was 3-for-5 with three RBIs. Jamie Suggs went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and Brady Sullivan was 1-for-3 with three RBIs for the Comets (12-14, 7-7).

Central 1, Brookwood 0

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Taylor Fields got the win after throwing a complete game shutout and striking out four batters as Central Gwinnett defeat Brookwood 1-0 in nine innings on Friday.

Phillip Bates went 1-for-4 with a double and scored the winning run. Casey Shaddix was 1-for-4 with the game-winning walk-off RBI in the ninth inning for Central (13-13, 8-6).

Mill Creek 14, Chattahoochee 2

SUWANEE -- Mill Creek beat Chattahoochee 14-2 in five innings Friday to advance to the playoffs.

Brian Stillwell (3-2) gave up a run, two hits and struck out three batters in four innings.

Nick Tillman went 1-for-2 with a three-run home run. Jairius Mayweather went 1-for-1 with a home run and two RBIs. Jerad Curry was 1-for-2 with a two run home run, Devin Bonin went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, Greg Brody was 3-for-3 with two RBIs and Tyler Puckett was 1-for-1 with an RBI for Mill Creek (21-5, 14-4).

North 9, Peachtree Ridge 5

SUWANEE -- North Gwinnett beat Peachtree Ridge 9-5 in eight innings Friday to advance to the state playoffs.

North tied in the bottom of the seventh with a single and three walks and won in the eighth inning on a grand slam by Seth Bancroft.

Will Bates (6-2) got the win for North after he pitched 42/3 innings. He gave up three runs, two earned runs and struck out 10 batters. Nick Jones hit a two-run home run, Kyle Norton had an RBI single and Luke Tindol had a double for North Gwinnett (15-11).

For Peachtree Ridge, Jared Walsh was 4-for-4 with a solo home run. Brandon Harwood was 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs. Walsh struck out eight batters, and gave up seven hits and five earned runs for no decision in 62/3 innings of work.

Wesleyan 12, Paideia 1

ATLANTA -- Kevin O'Leary got the win for the Wolves as Wesleyan defeated Paideia 12-1 on Friday.

Mason Colquitt and Gardner Heaner each hit home runs for Wesleyan (17-7, 12-0).

Providence 12, Mt. Pisgah 1

JOHNS CREEK -- Austin Loyd hit a grand slam, to help Providence to a 12-1 win over Mt. Pisgah in six innings Friday.

Kevin Dodson got the win after he struck out nine batters, didn't allow a walk and gave up one run off five hits in six innings.

Dodson was 3-for-4 at the plate with two runs, while Alan Skinner went 3-for-4 with two runs and three RBIs for Providence (14-12, 7-5).

Killian Hill picks up two wins over Appling Christian

LILBURN -- Killian Hill Christian beat Appling Christian 13-4 and 11-7 in eight innings in the second game of the GACAA semifinals on Friday.

In the first game, Jeffery Lanier hit a grand slam in the sixth inning and also picked up the win on the mound. He gave up six hits, three earned runs, two walks and struck out five batters to improve his record to 5-0.

Kyle Bailey was 3-for-3 with a double, a home run and three stolen bases.

In the second game, Austin Parks (2-1) got the win after pitching 22/3 in relief. He gave up no runs and struck out one batter in four innings.

Bailey was the starting pitcher and threw 51/3 innings, giving up eight walks and striking out 10. Offensively, Sebastian Thomas was 2-for-5 with four RBIs.

Watson was 4-for-5 with five RBIs, Bailey was 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI and Alex Attebery was 2-for-3.


Collins Hill 18, West Forsyth 7

CUMMING -- Connor Squires scored five goals to help Collins Hill defeat West Forsyth 18-7 on Friday.

Hayes Hoey scored three goals and had seven assists, while Cody Cornwell contributed three goals. Collin Russell and Johnathan Stewart each scored two goals.


Duluth sweeps double header

DULUTH -- Duluth beat Gainesville 18-2 and 17-1 in a doubleheader on Friday.

High scores of the day were Linley Davis and Ali Cole, each with seven goals, Samantha Christian with five goals, and Mary Ing and Ajahna Grosvenor both had three goals apiece. Mariah Hinson and Rachel Spencer each scored two goals for Duluth (4-12).
