BUFORD -- Police busted two South Carolina men this morning transporting guns and drugs on Interstate 85 through Buford, authorities said.
A Gwinnett police officer assigned to the department's highway interdiction team noticed the pair's 2005 Cadillac STS traveling "erratically" and pulled them over near Hamilton Mill Road about 1:30 a.m., police said.
When confronted, the pair seemed "deceptive and evasive" but consented to a vehicle search, said Gwinnett police spokesman Officer Brian Kelly.
In a passenger compartment, the officer found 114 grams of methamphetamine, seven grams of marijuana, two 9 mm pistols and a .22 caliber revolver, Kelly said.
"All (the guns were) within easy reach of the driver and passenger," he said.
Both suspects -- William Hartshorn, 56, and Richard Holbrooks, 44, both of Seneca, S.C. -- were arrested and transported to the Gwinnett County Jail.
Their charges include trafficking in methamphetamine, marijuana possession, three counts of firearm possession while committing a felony and possession of a firearm with the serial number removed.
Hartshorn, the alleged driver, faces additional traffic charges of illegal window tint and failure to maintain lane.
Both men remain jailed without bond.
