Small fire breaks out in postal warehouse

DULUTH -- A minor fire at the U.S. Postal Service warehouse on Boggs Road was extinguished in a matter of minutes Thursday night, officials said.

Firefighters responded to the call at 8:44 p.m. and the "small fire in a piece of machinery" was put down in less than 15 minutes, Gwinnett County fire spokesman Capt. Tommy Rutledge said.

The fire did not progress from the machine and into the building and there was no structural damage, he said.

A female post office employee was transported for evaluation after a medical emergency, Rutledge said. The emergency was not fire-related.
