PREP ROUNDUP: Hebron advances to second round

BLAIRSVILLE -- Hebron beat Union County 3-2 in penalty kicks to advance to the second round of the Class AA/A boys soccer playoffs on Thursday.

Josh Manga and Cody Gardner scored for the Lions, while Chris Austin and Brian Oduro each had an assist. Hebron Christian now faces Wesleyan, a winner over Westminster.

BASEBALL

Dacula 9, Shiloh 2

DACULA -- Dacula finished its season with a 9-2 win over Shiloh on Thursday.

Erik Schrum (4-3) threw five innings, gave up a run, three hits and struck out four batters to collect the win.

Offensively, Schrum was 2-for-2 with a home run and two RBIs. Oliver Pratt went 2-for-4 with a double, triple and an RBI. Tyler Jarvis went 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs. Freshman Oscar Valdez, who was called up to play on Thursday, had a pinch hit single for Dacula (11-15, 4-10).

Buford 8, Westminster 6

BUFORD -- Eric Eck threw 21/3 scoreless innings to help Buford to an 8-6 victory over Westminster and the Wolves finished third in Region 6-AA on Thursday.

Cameron Crawford was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, Brandon Kinzel went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and Dylan Stowe was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Buford (18-7, 8-4).

Providence 13, Paideia 2

LILBURN -- Providence defeated Paideia 13-3 in five innings on Thursday.

Billy Mangum struck out five batters and gave up two runs on four hits in four innings to register the win.

Christin Stewart went 2-for-2 with two two-run home runs and four RBIs. Alan Skinner went 1-for-2 with a home run and two RBIs. Kevin Dodson finished 2-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs. Dan Miner was 1-for-2 with two RBIs, while Tyler Brown went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI for Providence (13-12, 6-5).

Wesleyan 15, St. Francis 0

NORCROSS -- Kevin O'Leary hit his 16th and 17th home runs, setting a new school record and helping Wesleyan shut out St. Francis 15-0 in four innings on Thursday.

O'Leary also had three RBIs. Conor Welton and Strother White each had two hits. Mason Colquitt picked up the win after he pitched the entire game and allowed no runs, one hit and struck out five for Wesleyan (16-7, 11-0).

Franklin Co. 12, Mountain View 7

CARNESVILLE -- Mountain View lost its last game of the season to Franklin County 12-7 on Thursday.

Beau Blair suffered the loss after he threw 2/3 inning and gave up five runs, one hit, walked five and struck out one batter.

Jacob Bowers and Peyton Fore each had two hits and two RBIs. Jenard Mosley had two hits and Garry Gwaltney had two RBIs for Mountain View (6-20).

BOYS LACROSSE

Collins Hill 12, Chattahoochee 4

SUWANEE -- Connor Squires led Collins Hill with four goals to help the Eagles to a 12-4 win over Chattahoochee on Thursday.

Hayes Hoey scored four goals and had four assists, while Collin Russell contributed three goals and an assist. Jonathan Stewart added two goals, while Jake Star helped with a goal and an assist. Alex Squires was in goal and had four saves for Collins Hill.

Peachtree Ridge 15, Grayson 0

SUWANEE -- Peachtree Ridge improved its record to 15-3 and secured the No. 2 seed in the state playoffs with a 15-0 win over Grayson on Thursday.

Leading the Lions was Cory Hall with three goals and four assists.

Tyler Botts and Nick Lombardo each added three goals to the total. Michael Ruffcorn contributed two goals and two assists, while Jarred Harper and Julian Gonzalez added a goal and assist each. Chris Sawdey scored a goal and Botts also added two assists for Peachtree Ridge.

Greg Rose and Sourish Ray combined in goal for the Lions.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Peachtree Ridge 26, Grayson 1

SUWANEE -- Peachtree Ridge defeated Grayson 26-1 on Senior Night on Thursday.

Jennifer Hennelly led with seven goals and an assist. Caitlin Palanza added four goals and an assist. Sarah Bilodeau contributed three goals and three assists for the Lions (11-5-1).
