ATLANTA -- Gov. Sonny Perdue says the Senate had one of its most productive sessions this year and thanked them for their hard work as he stopped by the chamber for the last time as head of the state.
Perdue praised senators for putting aside partisan and provincial differences to pass legislation on water conservation, transportation and ethics reform.
In 2002, Perdue was elected Georgia's first Republican governor since Reconstruction and is in the final year of his second term. He is restricted by law from seeking re-election. The 63-year-old Perry native also served in the state Senate representing his middle Georgia district from 1991 to 2001.
