Frances Mardell Barnett Davies, 84, of Berkeley Lake, GA, died April 23, 2010. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 26th, at 11:00 a.m. at Crowell Brothers Peachtree Chapel Funeral Home in Norcross. Interment will follow at Melwood Cemetery in Stone Mountain, GA. The family will receive friends Sunday, April 25th, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Davies was born in Atlanta, Georgia and graduated from Girls High School. She retired from the IRS after 20+ years of service as an Operations Administrator and was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Tucker. She was a larger than life person to whom everyone was a friend. She loved to cook, dance, bowl and play cards. She belonged to the Decatur / Glenwood Lanes 55 and over league and participated in Georgia Senior Bowling Tournaments. She was an outstanding bowler and bowled a perfect game. She enjoyed travel and belonged to the Telephone Pioneers and the Atlanta Skylarks. She and her husband visited Lake Tahoe, Las Vegas, Mexico, Hawaii, Great Britain, Wales, Ireland and Scotland. She once won $10,000 on a trip to Las Vegas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Bryan Davies and her brothers, Charlie Barnett, John Barnett, Leon Barnett and Donald Barnett. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Steven B. & Colleen Davies of Knoxville, TN; daughters and sons-in-law, Gail (Sammy) & Terry Allen of Sugar Hill, GA and Linda & Don Johnson of Berkeley Lake, GA; six grandchildren, Kyle, Chad, Jessica, Heather, Kelly, and Nicholas; one great-grandson, Jadyn; many nieces and nephews; and her faithful canine companion, Vegas.
