More help for heart recipient

Grace, the 7-year-old who had a heart transplant on Easter, will be the beneficiary of 100 percent of the proceeds from a "Cut-A-Thon" at Genesis Salon in Buford. Twenty stylists will be at the salon at 2590 Hamilton Mill from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, cutting and styling hair for minimum $10 donations per haircut.

As of Friday night, the salon already had 94 reservations for the event.

"We'll probably be expecting more," said Dave Sitz, the director of marketing for The 124 Group, Genesis' parent company. "Our goal is at least 100, maybe more."

Grace Callahan was diagnosed with dialated cardiomypathy, or enlarged heart, as an infant. After more than two months in the hospital, the Ivy Creek Elementary student received her heart transplant on Easter Sunday.

Her parents, Doug and Audrey Callahan, are teachers at Jones Middle School and Mill Creek High School, respectively.

Those interested in participating should call 678-735-4725 for a direct line to Genesis' Hamilton Mill location.
