SNELLVILLE -- A 17-year-old dropout returned to his old stomping grounds at South Gwinnett High School on Wednesday, this time with possession of two knives.

Alejandro Jimenez, a former South Gwinnett student, came to the school after 2 p.m. Wednesday and had a pair of "lock blade tactical knives" with blades over two inches long, police said.

He was arrested and booked into Gwinnett County jail on charges of possession of a weapon on school property and obstruction of a law enforcement officer after he ignored the school police officer's demands to come back and speak with him.

It is not believed there was any altercation involving Jimenez and any South Gwinnett students.

Jimenez remained in jail as of Thursday night. If he can meet the $7,000 bond set prior to his initial hearing on Tuesday, it will be on the condition that he not step foot on the South Gwinnett campus.

While a weapon on school grounds is always alarming, Gwinnett County public schools spokesman Jorge Quintana said this incident speaks more to the positive than the negative.

"This incident took place after school hours and the individual did not attempt to come inside the building," Quintana said. "Administrators and staff members are alert and diligent when it comes to the campus and security. That diligence led to the arrest of this individual."
