Mr. Hulon F. Farmer, age 95, of Suwanee, GA passed away on Monday, April 19, 2010. He was preceded in death by: parents, Charles T. and Eva Puckett Farmer; sisters, Mildred Farmer Gann and Myrtle Farmer Corley; and brothers, Beary Farmer, Charles Farmer, Troy Farmer, Hollis Farmer and Joel Farmer. He is survived by: wife of fifty years, Evelyn Walden Farmer, Suwanee, GA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Pete and Betty Walden, Prattville, AL; sister-in-law, Catherine Bollingler; beloved niece and nephew, Robin Walden Powell and husband, Wade; and many other nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly, Bobby Corley, Sonia Lenz, Kathleen Wilkes, Jackie Graham, Trina Farmer, Terry Farmer, Gary Farmer, Carlene Shields, Brenda Coryell, Norman Hyatt, Betty Hyatt, and Shirley Reeves; and many grand nieces, grand nephews and other relatives. Mr. Farmer was born November 21, 1914 in Suwanee, Gwinnett County, GA. Hulon attended Young Harris Junior College, Oglethorpe University, Piedmont College, Emory University, Peabody College and the University of Georgia and had a Masters Degree in Education. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served in World War II. While working thirty-nine years with the Gwinnett County Board of Education, he held positions as teacher, principal and visiting teacher. He retired from the Gwinnett County School System in 1978. He was a member of the Gwinnett County Association of Educators Hall of Fame in 1977 and was Gwinnett Council for Seniors, Citizen of the Year in 1998. He was a charter member of Shadowbrook Baptist Church in Suwanee, GA. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Linkous officiating. Interment will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Duluth, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Flowers will be accepted. Arrangements by: Junior E.
