Gwinnett Medical Center to highlight technology in seminar

LAWRENCEVILLE — Gwinnett Medical Center and Partnership Gwinnett will host a Healthcare Innovations event on May 13, the second installment of the quarterly health council series.

The event, which starts at 7:30 a.m., is open to the public and will highlight Gwinnett Medical's efforts to deliver the latest technological advancements in health care.

In addition to a panel of experts from several Gwinnett Medical surgical departments, Jeff Nowlin, the hospital's executive vice president, will deliver the keynote speech.

Among other topics, the panel will focus on bariatric surgery (a series of surgeries aimed at weight loss which was just introduced at Gwinnett Medical last month) and daVinci robotic surgery.

"Health care and the life sciences is a key industry focus for our economic development efforts through Partnership Gwinnett," said Nick Masino, vice president of economic development and Partnership Gwinnett at the Gwinnett Chamber.

"Collaborating with Gwinnett Medical Center to deliver solid programs and create a strong foundation and network of existing industry in this area is imperative and we're thrilled to be working together."
