LOGANVILLE — Emory Eastside is set to open its $3 million imaging center in Loganville on Monday.

After three years of planning, the location at 3445 Ga. Highway 81 S. will open its doors with a host of events, as well as tours of the facility that includes the only MRI machine in the Loganville area among almost $2 million worth of medical imaging equipment.

The equipment arrived in force two weeks ago, and the final touches are now being put on the building.

"Delivery of the imaging equipment in Loganville represents a milestone for the community and for Emory Eastside," said the hospital's Chief Operating Officer Dustin Greene. "The Loganville community will soon have access to the quality health care they deserve, close to home."

The imaging center will boast MRI, CT, mammography, X-ray, ultrasound and bone densitometry technology. Emory Eastside physicians and their staff will be formally introduced to the new facility April 30, one day before the official grand opening for potential patients.

"We just want to introduce them to the facility, let them view the facility and become comfortable with it," Emory Eastside spokeswoman Pattie Page said.

The official grand opening will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 1.

In addition to tours of the facility, visitors will enjoy a free lunch from The Varsity, a visit from the University of Georgia mascot Hairy Dawg and inflatables for children to play on.

"That should be a lot of fun for the kids," Page said. "We're going to have a helicopter there too."
