Dacula grad B.J. Puckett joins a crop of local products on the preseason roster of the Gwinnett Majic, a World Basketball Association Exposure League team based in the county.
Puckett was the league's MVP last year after helping the Majic to the WBA championship. He spent the winter playing basketball professionally in Mexico and Argentina.
He is one of several Gwinnett grads on the team's preseason roster, which includes several players from last season's championship squad.
Adrien Borders and Wayne Arnold, teammates on Berkmar's 2000 and 2001 state championship teams, also are on the roster of returning players along with Norcross' Reggie Anderson. Two of the newcomers are local players from Georgia, Ricky McPhee of Parkview and Tyler Whatley of Apalachee.
The roster also includes former Bulldog Albert Jackson, as well as Adrian Penland, Frank Davis and Marcus Brown. Gwinnett's head coach is Berkmar grad David Akin, who previously worked with the women's basketball program at Georgia.
The Majic's first game of the season is May 14 at 7 p.m. against the Franklin (Tenn.) Knights. The game will be played at Berkmar High School.
