ATHENS -- Georgia coach Mark Fox says Georgia's top player, Wesleyan grad Trey Thompkins, is returning for his junior season.
Fox tweeted on his Twitter account Thursday night about "Trey's announcement of his return." Thompkins made his surprise announcement at the team banquet.
Thompkins was Georgia's leading scorer and rebounder and a first-team All-Southeastern Conference player. He ranked among the league's top five with averages of 17.7 points and 8.3 rebounds.
Thompkins, who considered entering the NBA draft, drew a loud ovation after announcing he will return for his junior season. He confirmed his plans to the Athens Banner-Herald and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
