LILBURN -- A man wanted for abducting two women and holding them captive in Lilburn eluded police during a SWAT team situation early Friday, police said.
About 2:30 a.m., one of the victims was able to free herself from an abandoned apartment in Lilburn. She called Lilburn police to report that one woman remained in the residence, said Gwinnett police spokesman Officer Brian Kelly.
"At that time, it was unknown if the abductor still remained with the hostage (or not)," Kelly said.
Gwinnett police SWAT team officers and hostage negotiators responded. They entered the apartment to find the woman bound, but unharmed. The suspect had fled, Kelly said.
"The situation was quickly and peacefully resolved," he said.
Their captor remains at large, police said Friday.
No further details regarding the alleged abduction or the suspect were available. Lilburn police did not return calls for comment Friday afternoon.
