NORCROSS -- Police are investigating a Thursday night shooting at an apartment complex near Norcross that left at least two men injured, one critically.
A 911 caller informed police about 8:30 p.m. a man had been shot at the Sinclair Apartments at 3600 Park Colony Drive.
Police arrived to find one man lying on the floor of an apartment, critically wounded. He was transported to an area hospital, where he remained in critical condition Friday, said Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. David Schiralli.
Police sweeping the area found a second male victim in woods nearby. He'd been shot in the leg and was hospitalized with injuries that aren't life-threatening, Schiralli said.
A third victim who police say could have been involved checked himself into Gwinnett Medical Center on Friday morning with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
"At the moment, that's being investigated as part of the same incident, as that's the only shooting we know of (Thursday) night," said Gwinnett police spokesman Officer Brian Kelly.
Police withheld all victims' names Friday.
Schiralli said police canvassed the area near the apartments for witnesses, but had no viable suspect or vehicle information that could be released.
The exact circumstances and motive behind the shootings are under investigation.
Police aren't discounting the possibility that the victims could have shot each other, Kelly said.
"At this point, (that) has not been determined ... but that hasn't been ruled out, either," he said. "I don't believe any weapons were recovered at the immediate scene."
Police urge anyone with information about the shootings to call the Gwinnett police criminal investigations division at 770-513-5300.
