PREP ROUNDUP: Fields K's six in Central's win over Dacula

LAWRENCEVILLE — Taylor Fields earned the win on the mound after he struck out six batters in six innings as Central Gwinnett topped Dacula 6-5 on Wednesday.

Phillip Bates picked up the save for the Black Knights, and was 2-for-3 with a run at the plate. Casey Shaddix and Anthony Fields each went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer, and Curtis Davis stole two bases for Central (8-7, 3-1).

For Dacula (6-9, 0-4), Steven Williams was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI and Chase Loyd went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Erik Schrum (1-2) got the loss after he threw six innings and gave up six runs, five hits and three walks and struck out three.


South 7, Grayson 4

GRAYSON — Mack Adams went 4-for-4 with an RBI to help the Comets take a 7-4 win over Grayson on Wednesday. Kent Rollins was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a home run, and Thomas Embry (2-3) earned the win on the mound after he gave up two earned runs in 52/3 innings for South (8-8, 3-1).

North 12, Northview 11

DULUTH — North Gwinnett defeated Northview 12-11 on Wednesday.

North Gwinnett was down 9-1 after three innings but went on to score four runs in the fifth, six in the sixth and one in the seventh inning.

Christopher Hawkins was 3-for-5 with a double, two homers and five RBIs, while Will Bates went 3-for-4 with a double, two singles and two RBIs. Kyle Norton was 2-for-4 with a homer, while Nick Jones went 2-for-4 with two doubles and Dayton Overstreet had a sacrifice fly to tie the game for North.

Bates picked up the win after he pitched the final 12/3 innings and struck out the last two batters for the Bulldogs (9-7, 5-3).

Peachtree Ridge 10, Duluth 1

SUWANEE — Jared Walsh went 3-for-3 with a home run, three runs and four RBIs to help Peachtree Ridge take a 10-1 victory over Duluth on Wednesday.

Brett Polachek was 1-for-3 with a homer and three RBIs, Billy Best went 2-for-3 with a two-run double, and Chris Kelly and Chase Macon each went 2-for-3 with two runs for the Lions.

Corey Sussman got the win on the mound after he gave up six hits, an unearned run, and struck out four batters in six innings for Peachtree Ridge (8-8, 3-5).

Jackson Co. 8, Mountain View 7

LAWRENCEVILLE — Mountain View fell to Jackson County 8-7 on Wednesday.

Jacob Bowers and Casey Innis each had two hits scored and two runs for the Bears (4-14). Kyle Mitchell got the loss on the mound, giving up three runs, five hits and a walk and striking out three batters in three innings.

Westminster 8, Wesleyan 7

ATLANTA — Westminster hit a walk-off, three-run homer in the bottom of the seventh to beat Wesleyan 8-7 on Wednesday.

Kevin O'Leary was 3-for-3 with a two-run homer and three RBIs, while Daniel Cardwell and Gardner Heaner each hit a home run for the Wolves.

Devin Stanton pitched four innings and gave up a hit, a run and struck out five batters for the Wolves (7-7, 4-0).
