Pair charged in gas station heists

LAWRENCEVILLE — Police have linked two Norcross residents to gas station stick-ups in Gwinnett over the last two weeks, authorities said Wednesday.

The first heist happened March 24 at a Marathon station at 2070 Beaver Ruin Road in Norcross. Witnesses said a black male with a goatee stormed in with a gun, demanding money before he fled.

Last Thursday, a man fitting that description held up a Chevron at 1843 Pleasant Hill Road in Duluth, but this time witnesses watched him flee to a Best Buy parking lot, where he was driven away by a woman in a black Chevy Blazer, police said.

Witnesses provided police a tag number and vehicle description, and the Blazer was stopped within minutes, said Gwinnett police Cpl. David Schiralli.

"An officer noticed a balled-up, black shirt and broken pieces of a plastic handgun lying in the roadway near where the vehicle was stopped," Schiralli said.

Police arrested Jamere Brown, 24, and Alicia Mack, 25, without incident.

Investigators were able to link Brown to the earlier robbery via surveillance video and a victim's ability to identify Brown in a photo line-up, police said.

Brown is charged with two counts of armed robbery. His alleged accomplice faces one count. Both suspects live together in Norcross, Schiralli said.
