Peachtree Ridge's Jack commits to Samford hoops
Peachtree Ridge senior Brittany Jack has accepted a basketball scholarship offer from Samford University in Birmingham, Ala.
Jack was a four-year starter for the Lions, averaging team highs of 14.1 points and 7.8 rebounds this past season as a senior. She also led Peachtree Ridge in scoring (14.2) and rebounding (6.0) as a junior.
GAC, North students lead Sports Champions honors
Greater Atlanta Christian and North Gwinnett will have two student-athletes honored at the April 15 Sports Champions of Greater Atlanta banquet at the Cobb Galleria. The event's guest speaker is 1996 Heisman Trophy winner Danny Wuerffel.
GAC's Will Freeman and Chaney Means and North's Eric Madden and Caroline Kenney are among the 12 seniors selected for awards, given to athletes who show excellent performance in athletics and academics while showing great character.
North's Mark Karen and Buford's Jess Simpson also will receive coaching awards for their leadership of young athletes.
Archer plans second Tiger Trot
The Archer Tigers football program has scheduled its second Tiger Trot, a fundraiser featuring a 5K and a one-mile fun run, for April 17. The races will begin at 1 p.m. at Tribble Mill Park.

Motorcyles back at Road Atlanta
The AMA Suzuki Superbike Showdown, Road Atlanta's top motorcycle race, returns to the Braselton track April 16 to 18. The event will feature AMA Pro American Superbike, AMA Pro Daytona SportBike and AMA SuperSport races on both April 17 and 18.
