Prep roundup: Win keeps Panthers atop 8-AAAAA

LILBURN - Sarah Coker went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs on Tuesday night as Parkview edged Central Gwinnett 7-6 to stay atop Region 8-AAAAA.

Katie Block had two hits with a triple and two RBIs for the Panthers. Summer Rose (11-2) struck out six in seven innings work for the win. Caitlyn McClure added three hits and three RBIs for Parkview (17-7, 6-0), while Greer Freeman had an RBI single.

Central (10-17, 2-5) was led by a 4-for-4 performance from Kara Hembree with two runs and a stolen base, Allyssa Pane was 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs. Ashlyn Arp added two hits and two RBIs, while Sierra Say had an RBI double.


Brookwood sweeps South in doubleheader

SNELLVILLE - Brookwood improved to 17-10 overall and 4-1 in Region 8-AAAAA on Tuesday with a pair of 8-0 wins over South Gwinnett.

Brandi Jones allowed two hits with seven strikeouts for the win in the first game. Susan Norris led the offense, going 1-for-3 with two RBIs, while Jessica Neidigh added two hits and an RBI. Also helping were Julia Westbrook (solo homer), Mandy Blackwell (hit, two RBIs), Rachel Hill (two runs), Michelle Ramos (hit, RBI) and Emily Brantley (hit, run).

Hill delivered a no-hitter with nine strikeouts for the win in the nightcap. Mandy Blackwell went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while Jenny Blackwell finished 2-for-3 with a double. Jones (2-for-3, RBI), Rachel Rhodes (hit, RBI) and Daniella Ulloa (double) also chipped in.

Mill Creek posts two wins

HOSCHTON - Mill Creek picked up two Region 7-AAAAA wins on Tuesday by beating Peachtree Ridge and Chattahoochee.

Lauren Kaczynski notched the win in relief of starter Caroline Wilson (six innings, four strikeouts, one run) as the Lions (14-8-1, 6-3) nipped Peachtree Ridge 2-1. Chandler Griffin led the offense, going 2-for-3 while Jenna Holland had a hit, two walks and an RBI.

Kaczynski pitched all five innings of the Lions' 9-1 win over Chattahoochee for her second win of the night, striking out five with no earned runs. Nikki Sagermann went 3-for-3 with two triples, two runs and three RBIs. Danielle Jones was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

Archer 6, Grayson 5

LOGANVILLE - Alliyah Williams led Archer both on the mound and at the plate on Tuesday, guiding the Tigers to a 6-5 win over Grayson.

Williams pitched a complete game, surrendering five runs on five hits with four strikeouts, while going 2-for-4 at the plate with a triple and an RBI.

Lynsey Folkerts also had two hits, including a double, driving in two and scoring two for Archer (7-13). Taylor Ockunzzi was 2-for-4 with two runs. Taylor Harris finished 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI, while Rachel Simonton and Jacquie Maxwell each had a hit and an RBI.

Eastside 6, Mountain View 0

COVINGTON - Eastside blanked Mountain View 6-0 on Tuesday night.

Taylor Miller was the offensive standout for Mountain View, going 2-for-3 with a stolen base. Brooke Stanford took the loss on the mound, allowing six runs on seven hits with four strikeouts in three innings.

Buford 9, Lovett 0

ATLANTA - Buford captured the top seed in the upcoming Region 6-AA softball tournament with a 9-0 win over Lovett on Tuesday night in five innings.

Pitcher Melissa Dickie (5-1) delivered a no-hitter, striking out seven and walking two. Madison Wynegar went 3-for-3 with four RBIs and a run.

Whitney Wolfe added three hits, two RBIs and two runs while Lexi Overstreet (two doubles, two RBIS, two runs) and Samantha Ramey (2-for-3, run) each had solid games. Buford ended its regular season 15-4 overall and 5-0 in the region.

GAC 9, Westminster 1

ATLANTA - After play was suspended due to weather on Sept. 15th, Greater Atlanta Christian finished off Westminster 9-1 on Tuesday.

Sarah Armstrong recorded the win on the mound while adding a triple at the plate, while Chandler Alverson and Taylor Endres each had a hit.


Brookwood wins two

SNELLVILLE - Brookwood elevated its play on Tuesday night and recorded two big wins in Area 8-AAAAA play with victories over South Gwinnett and Parkview.

Brookwood swept South in its opener 25-14, 26-24 and beat Parkview in three games 24-26, 25-22, 25-18.

Rams beat Central, Shiloh

LAWRENCEVILLE - Grayson swept both Central Gwinnett and Shiloh on Tuesday in Area 8-AAAAA action.

Leading the Rams (19-13, 4-1) was Grace Basile with eight kills and an ace. Kara Seabrook added five kills, 11/2 blocks and an ace, while Dallas Hasty finished with five kills and three aces.

Norcross gets by North and Collins Hill

SUWANEE - Rachel Monteagudo had 49 assists with six kills, while Briana Jordan added 18 digs and 17 kills on Tuesday to help Norcross top Collins Hill in two games and North Gwinnett in three games.

Sara Snider added 26 digs and five aces for Norcross (15-11, 4-0). Alex DeMercy finished with 21 kills, four aces and three blocks. Also helping Norcross were Macy Clark with 11 kills and eight digs, Katie Janowiak with six kills and three digs and Nicole Mitzel with 31/2 blocks.

Peachtree Ridge tops Duluth

SUWANEE - Peachtree Ridge celebrated senior night with a 25-9, 25-10 sweep over Duluth on Tuesday night. The Lions ended their night with a split, falling in two games to Mill Creek.

Brynna Robinson led the Lions (17-8) with 25 assists, eight digs and three kills. DeLaina Sarden added seven kills and four blocks. Also playing well were Lucy Riddle (seven kills, four blocks, seven digs), Cait Siracusa (four kills, four digs) and Sarah Bilodeau (four kills, block).

GAC stays perfect in Area 4-AA/A

DACULA - Greater Atlanta Christian improved to 4-0 in Area 4-AA/A on Tuesday with sweeps of Hebron and Buford.

Amanda Komisarow led GAC (23-6 overall) with 31 kills and five aces, while Ali Cox added nine kills. Catherine Chason also played well with 42 assists and six aces.

Hebron got a split on the night, finishing off Buford in two games, 25-23 and 25-9. Courtney Bishop and Elise Murray each had 11 kills and four aces for the Lions. Savannah Blalock added 14 assists while Alix Sutton finished with 12 digs.

Wolves top AIS, Fellowship

ATLANTA - Wesleyan improved to 26-15 with sweeps over Atlanta International School and Fellowship Christian in a pair of matches played at Holy Innocents'.

Anna Keappler led Wesleyan with 14 kills and five digs while Maggie Smith tallied 17 assists. Also playing well were Grace Leah Baughn with eight kills and eight digs, Paige Lamons with 11 digs and Alex Middleton with eight kills and five digs.

Stars beat Paideia, Yeshiva

LILBURN - Providence swept two matches Tuesday night, beating Paideia 25-23, 25-16 and Yeshiva 25-23, 25-7.

Maddie Jones led the Stars against Paideia with nine service points.

Killian Hill tops King's Way

LILBURN - Madeline Tewes had 22 serves with five aces on Tuesday as Killian Hill swept King's Way in three games.

Nicole Bullard added five aces on 15 serves with 42 assists for Killian Hill (9-2, 8-2). Jennifer Burrow finished with three kills and two blocks. Ashley Peterson added four kills and four blocks, while Emily McMahan had four kills.


Killian Hill 10, Open Bible 3

LILBURN - Wes Williams booted home four goals and Daniel Hildebrand added three more on Tuesday to lead Killian Hill to a 10-3 win over Open Bible.

Adding one goal each for Killian Hill (11-1-1, 8-0) were Gabe Lee, Andrew Townsend and Tyler Wesley.
