SUWANEE - Gwinnett County Public Schools invites parents and community members to join district staff members in reviewing and providing input on proposed curriculum materials, including textbooks for nine new and updated high school courses in science, mathematics, health and technical education
The review runs Oct. 1 to 30. All materials can be reviewed at the school district's Instructional Support Center in the Building 200 lobby. The ISC is located at 437 Old Peachtree Road in Suwanee.
The school system holds an extensive review before adopting materials for classroom use, according to a news release. Materials submitted by publishers are reviewed by teachers, administrators and parents for alignment with the school system's Academic Knowledge and Skills curriculum. Materials also are piloted in classrooms as part of the review process.
Parents and community members interested in participating can review the materials from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays throughout the month, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Oct. 17, and from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 8 and 22.
Based on all input gathered from this review, a recommendation will be made to the Gwinnett County Board of Education for adoption of materials.
