Joyce Elaine Marinich passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2009 at the age of 68. Joyce Elaine Hughes was born in Canton, Illinois on June 26, 1941. She married Michael Marinich after graduating high school, moved to Peoria Illinois and raised 3 daughters. She has traveled all over the world and has resided in Lawrenceville, Georgia since 1991. She received her Bachelor's degree at the University of New Mexico and her Master's in Social Work from the University of Georgia. She has worked with the local mental health agency for almost ten years counseling children with behavioral and emotional issues, and she recently received her license in social work. She enjoyed her job very much. Joyce Marinich was a devoted member of Saint Marguerite's Catholic Church in Lawrenceville and a volunteer for the St. Vincent De Paul society. She was preceded in death by her brother, Gary Hughes and parents Phillip and Luella Hughes. She is survived by her daughters, Theresa Smith, Sarah Martin-Dido and Rebecca Calhoun and her 9 grandchildren, Carmen, Ashleigh and Paige Smith, Ryanne, Alexandra and Isaac Martin, Dakota and Savannah Tkacik and Jacob Calhoun. Her greatest joy was being a grandma and she traveled near and far to attend their births, baptisms, graduations, concerts, games and special events. Visitation will be held at Tom. M. Wages Funeral Service, Lawrenceville Chapel, on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 from 5-7 pm. The funeral mass will be held at St. Marguerite's Catholic Church on Thursday, October 1 at 10:30 am and will be followed by a brunch. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Joyce Marinich to GRN Therapeutic Home Care, a non-profit organization. Tom M.
