Hudgens Center to host free event

DULUTH - Gwinnett families are invited to take a journey of imagination.

In conjunction with its latest exhibit, the Hudgens Center for the Arts will host a free family day Saturday, when Gwinnett residents can take in the incredible works of fiber art on display along the center's Rowe Promenade in "Fiber Artistry - Journey of the Imagination."

The exhibit was organized by the Chattahoochee Handweavers Guild, an organization of weavers and fiber artists from Georgia and surrounding states, and showcases 40 juried pieces that illustrate the range of fiber art.

While families can peruse the art on display, children can also get hands-on with fiber art projects. Hudgens instructor and Gwinnett County art teacher Carol Bowman will facilitate a weaving project.

Two artists with work on display in the fiber arts exhibit will also give demonstrations of their crafts.

The Hudgens Center hosts a free family day event in conjunction with each of its main exhibits. The next event will be held Nov. 14 and will focus on portraiture.
