DULUTH - Police are searching for a masked bandit who unwittingly robbed a Duluth gas station of bags of spent lottery tickets.
The robbery happened about 3 a.m. Monday at a Shell Station on Pleasant Hill Road near Club Drive. A clerk was readying a coffee station for business when the man stormed in with a black handgun, his face shrouded by a white T-shirt, according to a police report. The robber forced the clerk behind a counter at gunpoint, demanding cash. The clerk handed over three Peoples Bank and Trust bags, an undisclosed amount of cash in the business' register and five Jumbo Bucks lottery tickets, the report says. The bags contained only old, winning lottery tickets and related paperwork, the clerk told police. The incident was caught on surveillance video, and the clerk provided police with serial numbers for the stolen lottery tickets. No arrests had been made in the robbery Thursday, said Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. David Schiralli. The suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his 20s, wearing a black hooded shirt, blue jeans and white shoes. He fled on foot.More like this story
