Gwinnett Daily Post
The Gwinnett Braves missed Todd Redmond in the postseason and the right-hander has shown why pitching in the World Cup.
Redmond helped Team USA to Sunday's championship game in Italy by going 3-0 with a 1.21 ERA in his three starts, issuing just one walk. He pitched 81/3 innings in a 3-0 victory over Puerto Rico on Wednesday and allowed four hits while striking out four. The Southern League pitcher of the year in 2008, Redmond was 9-6 with a 4.41 ERA for Gwinnett in his first Class AAA season. He tied for the International League lead by allowing 21 home runs. Redmond, 24, had to miss his last start for the G-Braves in the regular season as well as the Governors' Cup playoffs because of the commitment to the World Cup. Teams USA recorded a 5-3 victory over Cuba on Thursday and may have to play the Cubans again on Sunday in the title game at 9 a.m. on the MLB Network.More like this story
