BUFORD - A Sugar Hill sexagenarian faces battery charges after attacking another woman in a local bar, police said.
Police arrested Charlotte Lance, 62, on Tuesday, charging her with simple battery in a Sept. 4 scuffle at Skelly's Bar and Grill on Nelson Brogdon Boulevard. Lance posted $1,300 bond on the misdemeanor charge and was released Wednesday from the Gwinnett County Jail. The alleged victim, Deborah Creel, 58, told police she was standing at the bar when Lance bum rushed her from behind. Lance pushed Creel, and "the force ... caused (Creel) to whip her neck in a violent manner and caused her to hit the side of her head against metal railing," according to Lance's arrest warrant. Two witnesses corroborated Creel's account, according to a Gwinnett police report. A restaurant employee provided police with surveillance footage of the incident, and police fetched warrants for Lance's arrest. Creel told police she had formerly been roommates with Lance, who sometimes uses an alias, she said. Police found no visible injuries on the alleged victim, though she complained of minor back and neck pain, a responding officer wrote.More like this story
