LAWRENCEVILLE - Police have arrested a Lawrenceville man and charged him with sexually assaulting a minor who is a family member on at least two occasions.
Mohammad Wasif, 39, was arrested Tuesday and charged with rape, sexual battery on a child under 16 and two counts of aggravated child molestation. An incident report was unavailable Wednesday, a Gwinnett County police spokeswoman said. But according to arrest warrants, also issued Tuesday, the assaults took place at two Lawrenceville homes between October 2007 and Monday. The victim's exact age is unclear, as is how the alleged assaults were brought to authorities' attention. Jail records show this isn't Wasif's first run-in with Gwinnett authorities. He was arrested in 2001 for theft by taking and again in 2003 for simple battery. Wasif, a Pakistan native, is being held without bond on the latest charges and is also under a federal immigration hold. A probable cause hearing is scheduled for Thursday at 1:30 p.m.More like this story
