Marching bands to participate in exhibition
SNELLVILLE - A Gwinnett County Marching Band Exhibition is planned for 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Brookwood Stadium. Archer, Berkmar, Brookwood, Central Gwinnett, Grayson, Parkview, Shiloh and South Gwinnett will showcase their halftime performances during the exhibition. The University of Georgia Redcoat Marching Band is also scheduled to perform. Admission costs $7. Concessions will be sold. Brookwood High School is located at 1255 Dogwood Road in Snellville. GSBA names director of legislative services LAWRENCEVILLE - The Georgia School Boards Association recently announced that Angela Palm, currently the association's director of policy, will assume the position of director of legislative and policy services in January. "Since 2005, Ms. Palm has provided excellent leadership in the areas of policy and advocacy," said GSBA Executive Director Jeannie M. "Sis" Henry. "She is a very fine researcher and is greatly respected for the accuracy of the information she shares with Georgia legislators. She also understands and values the need to involve other stakeholders and build coalitions in the political arena." Don Rooks, who has managed GSBA's legislative services department for 14 years, announced his retirement in September, effective Jan. 1. Rooks will continue working with GSBA in the area of superintendent searches and professional development. The Georgia School Boards Association is a voluntary association of the state's 180 locally elected boards of education. Its mission is to ensure excellence in the governance of local school systems by providing leadership, advocacy and services, and by representing the collective resolve of its members.
