SUWANEE - A Gwinnett road project funded by the federal stimulus program got under way Friday.
Crews worked for about four hours before weather hampered the progress of the McGinnis Ferry extension, said Georgia Department of Transportation spokeswoman Teri Pope. The $20.4 million project will extend the parkway over Interstate 85 to Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road. Snellville-based E.R. Snell Contractor was awarded the contract for the project, expected to be completed by the end of September 2011. Georgia was awarded a total of $932 million in highway funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.More like this story
