Woman charged with assault after allegedly stabbing man in back

LAWRENCEVILLE - An apparent domestic incident after a night of drinking landed a Lawrenceville man in the hospital, and he and his girlfriend in jail.

Dulce Ramirez, 28, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly stabbing 29-year-old Faustino Garcia in the back, puncturing his lung. Garcia is charged with simple battery for reportedly slapping Ramirez.

According to reports, the couple argued at a night club when Garcia went outside and found Ramirez in the car with another man. After leaving the club and driving to Herrington Woods apartments, police said, the argument continued.

That's when Garcia reportedly admitted to slapping Ramirez, the mother of his children, "a few times." When he started to walk away, Garcia said, Ramirez stabbed him in the back and fled.

Police said a third party, a woman reportedly at the club with the couple, tried to pin the assault on a black man trying to rob Garcia.

Garcia was treated at Gwinnett Medical Center, hospital officials said, and is expected to fully recover.

He was booked into the Gwinnett County Jail, however, and is being held without bond for Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials.

Ramirez also remained jailed Wednesday without bond.
