LAWRENCEVILLE - The new patient tower at Gwinnett Medical Center is near completion and officials are inviting the public to come out for its grand opening ceremony Sept. 18.
Hospital spokeswoman Andrea Wehrmann said the open house will begin in the atrium lobby of the new North Tower at 5 pm. and go until about 8. Remarks and the ribbon-cutting ceremony - including a butterfly release - are scheduled for 5:30 p.m., she said. The event will feature character artists, musical entertainment and refreshments, and guests are invited to tour the new facility at their leisure. Jay Dennard, GMC's chief operating officer, said this is a chance for the hospital to showcase its state-of-the-art addition. "Friends and family of Gwinnett Medical Center are invited to join us for a sneak peak of what is behind our doors, even before we open them for patient care," Dennard said. "The community is what keeps us going every day and our physicians, nurses and staff have worked diligently to bring the extravagance of the new North Tower to your backyard." There is no fee, parking is free and an RSVP is not required. The $80-million tower is scheduled to receive its first patients on Sept. 30.More like this story
