Prep Roundup: Mill Creek beats defending state champs, improves to 18-0

HOSCHTON - Mill Creek volleyball topped Whitewater 25-16, 20-25, 26-24, and swept Northview 25-19, 27-25.

Mo Simmons led Mill Creek with 28 kills and 15 blocks, as Mill Creek improves to 18-0 for the season.


Greater Atlanta Christian splits

ATLANTA- Greater Atlanta Christian defeated Westminster 19-25, 25-19, 25-21 and lost to Sandy Creek 19-25, 15-25 on Thursday night.

Amanda Komisarow led the Spartans in scoring with 31 kills and 16 digs, while Catherine Chason had 43 assists and 16 digs. Morgan McKnight contributed nine kills for GAC (8-4).

Collins Hill sweeps

LAWRENCEVILLE - Collins Hill defeated North Paulding 25-5, 25-8 and topped Mountain View 25-6, 25-20 on Thursday.

Kiyomi Doscher helped the Eagles with nine kills, four aces and four digs, while Erin Ensley had six aces and four digs. Alexis Plair had 10 digs, and Katherine Ahlswede helped with 18 assists for Collins Hill (9-3).

Peachtree Ridge beats South, Tucker

TUCKER - Peachtree Ridge improved its record to 10-2 after sweeping South Gwinnett 25-21, 25-10, and Tucker 25-17, 25-17.

Peachtree Ridge was led by Becca Myer and Cait Siracusa, after missing only one serve apiece the entire game.

Dacula splits

Austell - Dacula defeated South Cobb 25-23, 25-8, but lost to Sprayberry 25-14, 25-14 on Thursday.

Mindi Blythe led Dacula with nine service points and 10 aces.

North splits with Grayson, Shiloh

GRAYSON - North Gwinnett fell to Grayson 17-25, 26-24, 25-20, but rallied to beat Shiloh 17-25, 25-13, 25-22 on Thursday.

Michelle DeMaris led with 15 digs, while Kelsea Knudsen had 22 kills, and Ashleigh Clark helped with 24 assists for the Bulldogs.

Hebron defeats Decatur, Providence

LILBURN - Hebron rolled past Decatur 25-21, 23-25, 25-22 and swept Providence 25-17, 25-22 on Thursday night.

Courtney Bishop led the Lions with 20 kills, while Elise Murray had 15 kills. Maddi Roof had 17 assists and five kills, while Savannah Blalock had 13 assists, and Becky Conner added 10 kills for Hebron (9-7).

Providence beats Decatur, falls to Hebron

LILBURN - Providence swept Decatur 25-23, 25-22, but lost to Hebron 17-25, 22-25 on Thursday.

Jenny Hersh finished the night with six serves, seven aces and five kills, while Melanie Blackburn had 16 assists and nine tips. Mandy Parker contributed five serves, two aces and four kills, and Caroline Adams had 11 kills for Providence.

Wesleyan loses to Pope, Walton

MARIETTA - Wesleyan fell to Pope 25-15, 25-21 and lost to Walton 25-11, 25-15 on Thursday.

Callie Bivings contributed six kills and four digs, and Wilson Sprinkle had four aces and seven digs.

Anna Davis had two kills and Maggie Smith helped with 25 assists and 10 digs for Wesleyan.


Meadowcreek 7, Berkmar 6

NORCROSS - Zelika Stewart scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh to help the Mustangs beat Berkmar 7-6 on Thursday.

Casey Pottle got the win and struck out seven batters and went 2-for-4 at the plate. Jahisha Moise was 3-for-3 for Meadowcreek.

Brookwood 5, Central 0

SNELLVILLE - Brandi Jones struck out 15 batters and only gave up three hits as Brookwood shut out Central Gwinnett 5-0 on Thursday.

Offensively, Jones was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs and Mandy Blackwell went 2-for-3 with a double and a run. Julia Westbrook finished the night 2-for-4, and Susan Norris was 1-for-2 with a double, RBI and a run for the Broncos (9-7, 1-1).

Parkview 7, South 3

SNELLVILLE - Parkview defeated South Gwinnett 7-3 on Thursday night.

Summer Rose struck out seven batters in six innings to pick up the win for Parkview (6-6). At the plate, Rose was 3-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs. Katie Block went 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Carrie Ann Bullard, Dara Coker and Caitlin McClure each added a hit and an RBI for the Panthers.

Britney Warren went 2-for-4, while Beth Rawson had a run and two walks for the Comets. Lindsey Hogan got the loss for South (1-9, 0-2) after facing 37 batters and striking out two.

GAC 20, Avondale 0

AVONDALE ESTATES - Greater Atlanta Christian defeated Avondale 20-0 in three innings on Thursday.

Carly Busbee got the win, striking out all nine batters faced. At the plate Busbee was 3-for-3 with three singles and four RBIs.

Christine Young was 3-for-4 with three RBIs, two doubles and a home run, while Chandler Alverson and Taylor Anders each went 2-for-2 with two runs. Chaney Means added a triple and a double, four RBIs and two runs, and Sierra Lawrence had two doubles and scored three runs for the Spartans (4-5).

Shiloh 4, Dacula 0

DACULA - Monet Daly struck out five batters to help Shiloh shut out Dacula 4-0 on Thursday night.

Daly was 2-for-4 with a triple, while Amber Johnson and Jenna Carr each were 2-for-3 with an RBI. Tonisha Callaway was 1-for-2 and Amber Stillwell went 1-for-2 with a walk for the Generals (8-2, 2-0).

Duluth 3, North Forsyth 1

CUMMING - Jeanie Perrucci struck out nine batters and gave up five hits for Duluth as the Wildcats topped North Forsyth 3-1 on Thursday.

Chantelle Curinton went 2-for-4, Sam Metzler was 1-for-2 and Jessica Brown went 1-for-1 for Duluth (4-5-1).

North 2, Norcross 0

SUWANEE - Alex McDavid threw a no-hitter and struck out 10 batters as North Gwinnett shut out Norcross 2-0 on Thursday.

Tori Freedman and Cara Blenke were both 2-for-3, adding two singles apiece, while Kaitlyn Smith and Caroline Rogers each went 2-for-2 and scored a run.

Mandy Spangler had a double and Kali Shimmin scored a run for North (13-4, 4-0).

Peachtree Ridge 5, Chattahoochee 4

ALPHARETTA - Peachtree Ridge took a 5-4 win over Chattahoochee on Thursday.

Sarah Walker pitched five innings in relief and struck out three batters. Sade Johnson was 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Gabby Bedard and Chandler Frisbie each drove in two hits for Peachtree Ridge (10-6, 2-2).

Eastside 7, Mountain View 3

LAWRENCEVILLE - Mountain View fell to Eastside 7-3 in a Region 8-AAA game Thursday.

Brennah McCrary and Summer Spataro each went 1-for-3 with a run for Mountain View. Danielle Davis (13-5) threw six innings and gave up six hits and struck out seven batters for Mountain View (5-8, 1-3).

Hebron 8, Towns County 1

HIAWASSEE - Megan Dixon gave up four hits and an unearned run and struck out seven batters as Hebron took an 8-1 win over Towns County on Thursday.

Natalie Dixon went 1-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run, while Savannah Monahan went 2-for-2 with and RBI. Amber Walker drove in two runs and scored another, Annie Ranus was 1-for-2 with a run and an RBI, and Brooke Crosby went 1-for-4 with an RBI for Hebron (6-3, 2-0).

Blessed Trinity 5,Wesleyan 4

NORCROSS - Wesleyan couldn't hold on, falling 5-4 to Blessed Trinity on Thursday night.

CaraMia Tsirigos was 1-for-2 with three RBIs and Holli Wilkins was 2-for-3 for Wesleyan (2-7).
