LAWRENCEVILLE - Two Gwinnett County Public Schools' students are in jail after separate alleged on-campus incidents.
Tuesday, authorities charged Jermell Levosky Smith, 17, a Meadowcreek High School sophomore, with disrupting school and simple assault after police said he used obscenities and bumped a teacher with his chest. According to reports, Smith was removed from the classroom after he refused to stop talking on his cell phone. The physical contact allegedly happened as the 48-year-old teacher tried to prevent Smith from re-entering the classroom, a school resource officer said. Smith is being held at the Gwinnett Count Jail on $4,800 bond. A Hooper Renwick School student is also charged with disrupting school, and one felony count of interfering with government property after an alleged outburst on Aug. 27. Tiesha Robinson, 17, was arrested Wednesday and is also being held on $4,800 bond. According to arrest warrants, Robinson went into a "fit of rage," breaking a table and "placing the student population and administration in fear for their safety."More like this story
