SUWANEE -- Annandale Village has no definite plans on how it will use the grant it recently received.

"We were just so pleased and thrilled to get it, it was such a surprise, we are kind of like, 'Gosh, what are we going to do with this?'" said Nancy Trujillo, director of development for the Suwanee-based nonprofit.

Amigos for Christ, a nonprofit, faith-based organization whose mission is to assist the poor, particularly in Central America, awarded a $10,000 grant to Annandale Village, which serves adults with developmental disabilities.

Annandale was selected from more than 30 nonprofit and service groups that participated in Amigos for Christ's first-ever Celebrate Service Music Festival in late September.

"We wanted it to go (to) the organization that seized the opportunity and is doing something we believe in," said Amigos of Christ Director John Bland.

As part of the festival, members of Annandale's bike club participated in Pedal for the Poor and artwork by villagers was on display throughout the event.

"Since our bike club was instrumental in, I feel like, us winning the grant to start with, I think we will put some of that money into that," Trujillo said.
