Disc: 3 1/2 out of 4 stars
Released on the 40th anniversary of the first BBC broadcast, this thorough two-disc, six-hour documentary chronicling the history of the acclaimed comedy troupe is everything a Monty Python fan could possibly want. For the uninitiated, it may be a tad overlong but also provides the luxury of not having to endure the very few original TV sketches that didn't work. The real treat for the faithful is the nearly hour's worth of new interviews with the five surviving members.
Technical specs: aspect ratio: Widescreen (1080p), audio: English (Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround, LPCM Stereo), subtitles: none.
Special features include:
* Bonus sketches and outtakes
* Terry Gilliam image gallery
* Deleted episode scenes
* Interviews
(Vivendi Entertainment, $39.99)
