2 suffer smoke inhalation
SNELLVILLE - Two people were sent to the hospital Monday, when the were exposed to smoke during an apartment fire, officials said.
Gwinnett firefighters responded to the fire at the two-story wood frame apartment building in the 3100 block of Destin Circle in Snellville at 11:05 a.m.
"It appears that a small fire in the furnace was already out when the fire department arrived," said Capt. Thomas Rutledge, spokesman for Gwinnett Fire & Emergency Services.
The two occupants were sent to the hospital for evaluation, but the smoke was contained to the furnace and no structural damage was reported, Rutledge said.
Small fire at hotel
NORCROSS - A small mattress fire evacuated a Norcross hotel in the 3100 block of Medlock Bridge Road on Saturday night, officials said.
Firefighters responded to the fire on the second floor of the All Around Lodge at 9:54 p.m. and declared the fire under control less than 20 minutes later, Rutledge said .
The blaze was contained to the room of origin. No injuries were reported.
A man staying in the room, who was not home at the time, was displaced, Rutledge said.
The cause of the fire is undetermined, Rutledge said.
