Henry S. Van Os, a longtime Duluth resident, passed away October 20, 2009 from cardiac arrest. Henry was born in Norfolk, Virginia to Henry and Eloise Van Os. A graduate of the University of Virginia, Henry started working in sales and manufactured his own line of women's clothing labeled "Henry of Norfolk". He moved to Atlanta in the 1960's and started a second career in real estate as a land broker. Many clients became friends, some lifelong. Henry bought a farm in Duluth, where he raised angus cattle and racing pigeons. Henry was a real character, always quick to say something unexpected and often times inappropriate! He was a beloved father and friend, full of wit, teasing, and love. Henry will always be remembered for his smile, laugh, and the mischievous twinkle in his eyes. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Betty, and brother-in-law Melvin Crockin. Henry is survived by his sister, Ellen Van Os of Norfolk, VA, daughter Nellyn Van Os of Atlanta; daughter Alison (Ron) Kaiser of Bozeman, MT; son Henry (Judy) Van Os of Alpharetta; grandchildren Hayden and Ellie Kaiser and Jackson Van Os. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Cancer Society or to the charity of your choice. The memorial service will be 2:00 PM Sunday October 25, 2009 at Bill Head Funeral Homes and Crematory Duluth Chapel, with family and friends invited to a visitation one hour prior to the service.
